The most recent addition to Montgomery County Community College’s growing West Campus is the new home for the University Center. Located at 95 S. Hanover Street, the University Center allows students to attain select bachelor’s and master’s degrees right here in downtown Pottstown through partnerships with area colleges and universities including Albright College, Chestnut Hill College, Temple University, Villanova University, and Drexel University.
The new facility, completed in 2012 through a public-private partnership, involved the adaptive reuse of a building that was originally a railroad freight depot. The building is leased to Montgomery County Community College by the building’s owner and developer, Vesper Property Group. The modern, airy 10,500 square foot space includes six classrooms with smart videoconferencing technology, a student lounge and reception area.
The University Center is an important part of the vision to create a thriving urban campus in downtown Pottstown. The West Campus has experienced unprecedented 60 percent enrollment growth over the preceding five years attracting credit and non-credit students from the Tri-County area and serving as a tremendous workforce development resource.
