Manatawny Still Works is a craft distiller bottling high quality spirits in small batches on the banks of Manatawny Creek in Pottstown.
Work on the 7,500-square-foot facility began in 2013, transforming the industrial space at 320 Circle of Progress Drive into the distillery and tasting room it is today. The Still Works’ distilling process actually starts right across the street at Sly Fox Brewing Company. The businesses formed a unique partnership that allows the distillery to use Sly Fox’s equipment for creating the “wash” that is brought back to the Still Works for the rest of the distilling process.
The distillery pays homage to the history of Pottstown with the name of its business and some of its spirits. Manatawny’s Lenape name means “the place we meet to drink.” The distiller has named spirits after historical figures such as J. Potts Whiskey in recognition of ironmaster and founder of Pottstown John Potts and T. Rutter Rum honoring ironmaster Thomas Rutter.
Manatawny Still Works features a tasting room with a handmade copper bar and seating, along with a barrel room. You can check out their spirits and specialty cocktails and get a detailed, behind-the-scenes look at the distilling process during tours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Spirits are available for purchase at the Still Works and several area restaurants. The distillery’s space can be rented for business meetings, parties, or other events.
